Miller Hosts 1st Annual Charity Softball Tournament
DALLAS, TX – – Thursday, February 6, 2014 – – Last Friday, January 31st, Henry S. Miller Companies hosted the 1st Annual Charity Softball Tournament benefiting Family Gateway. The Miller Companies have always made a strong effort to give back to the community and have been supporting the mission at Family Gateway for the past several years through events and donation drives.
All proceeds from the tournament went directly to Family Gateway; team registration fees and day-of donations totaled more than $3,000.
The support of area commercial real estate firms was magnanimous. The tournament hosted seven teams and received donations from nine companies: Henry S. Miller Cos., The Retail Connection, Bright Realty, The Weitzman Group, Venture Commercial, Marcus & Milichap, Armorstar, Lee & Associates and UCR. Each team had a two game guarantee. The tournament started with a Homerun Derby at noon where Robert Luleff and Taylor Roberts of UCR, Chris Callicutt and Jon Krebbs of Henry S. Miller, Matt Squire of The Retail Connection and Mickey Hernandez of Mapei Corporation went head-to-head in a test of batting prowess. The bracket play began at one o’clock and the championship game, where The Retail Connection and Venture Commercial battled, ended at 8:30 p.m. The Retail Connection finished in 1st place, Venture Commercial in 2nd and Henry S. Miller Cos. in 3rd. The tournament was a great show of sportsmanship, camaraderie and philanthropy between D-FW commercial real estate peers.
Henry S. Miller would like to thank all of the volunteers, companies and umpires that donated their time and services. Miller will be hosting the 2nd Annual Charity Softball Tournament Friday, December 5th 2014 and hopes to make it an even larger event this year.
