Henry S. Miller Sells Prestonwood Country Club

DALLAS, TX – –  In 1976, the late Vance C. Miller – former President and CEO of Henry S. Miller Companies – purchased the beautiful, 18-hole Championship Prestonwood Country Club in North Dallas. At the time Prestonwood Country Club had just the one course located off of Preston Road just north of Arapaho Road. “I think Vance, if born 20 years later, would have been a professional golfer. He had such an impressive handicap and a love for the game of golf.” said Geraldine “Tincy” Miller, Chair Lady of Henry S. Miller Companies.

Prestonwood Country Club is very close to another favorite course of Vance’s, Preston Trail Golf Course. Mr. Miller spent years and invested much time and money into rebuilding north Dallas golf course, which is known as the Creek, and developed several apartment and condominium projects around the Creek golf course. In 1984, Mr. Miller built Prestonwood’s Plano golf course, known as the Hills, and developed the real estate around the course as a residential subdivision. “My father’s love of golf and his vision for real estate growth around the courses was a huge success. He was the initiator in the development of some of the nicest residential and retail communities in the North Dallas area.” said Greg Miller, President and CEO of Henry S. Miller Companies. “We have enjoyed owning the club and have been successful in doing so but the time was right to sell the club and focus on our core business of commercial real estate development and brokerage.”

In the past year there have been a lot of changes and big announcements for the Miller Companies; the passing of former CEO Vance C. Miller, the relocation of the Miller corporate headquarters, the announcement of Greg Miller as new President & CEO and the entrance into Miller’s 100th year. “It was time for us to reevaluate our assets and figure out what strategic moves were to be made in order for us to advance into our 100th year and into the next century.” said Greg. “It was a logical decision for us to sell Prestonwood .”

ClubCorp had expressed interest in Prestonwood for years and for the first time, the Miller Company was ready to move forward. “We could not be happier with the arrangement; ClubCorp is a great company and an obvious fit for the new ownership of Prestonwood.” said Mrs. Miller. “Sure it is hard to part with an asset that we have enjoyed for 38 years, but the timing and the buyer couldn’t have been any better.” she said.

“This year Henry S. Miller celebrates 100 years of commercial real estate service. We will honor the leadership and legacy of our past, but we must also prepare ourselves for the next century. This year and into the years to follow, we plan to acquire, develop and dispose commercial real estate property to ensure that our portfolio remains profitable and attractive.” said Greg Miller.
