Call for Entrants: HSM 21st Annual Vance C. Miller, Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament
(Dallas, TX) Henry S. Miller Brokerage is calling for entrants to the 21st Annual Vance C. Miller, Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament on April 24, 2018, at The Clubs at Prestonwood Hills Course in Plano, TX. Registration is open at www.henrysmiller.com/vancejr/ Sponsorships are also available.
The tournament will benefit LIFT, Literacy Instruction for Texas, and the Vance C. Miller Classical Guitar Scholarship in the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University.
Established in 1961, Literacy Instruction for Texas (LIFT) empowers individuals and communities to address the escalating problem of adult low literacy through evidence-based literacy programs. Giving to LIFT enhances lives and strengthens our community in real ways for years to come. Trained volunteers offer classes in literacy, GED preparation and ESL. “My favorite quote from Dr. Louisa Moats who is an expert in reading and human development is ‘Reading is the fundamental skill upon which all formal education depends,’” said Geraldine “Tincy” Miller, mother of Vance C. Miller, Jr. “I am so proud of what LIFT does in our community. It is the best way to help adults read.”
Henry S. Miller, Jr. and Juanita Miller established the Vance C. Miller, Jr. Classical Guitar Scholarship in 1998 to provide funding for undergraduate and graduate students studying classical guitar at SMU.
In addition to benefitting these charities, the $225 entrance fee covers lunch, 18 holes of golf and dinner. Four hole-in-one contests will give golfers the chance to win $10,000 cash. There will be prizes for closest to the pin, longest drive and first, second and third place teams, based on net and gross scores.

About Vance C. Miller, Jr.
Vance C. Miller, Jr. was the son of Vance C. Miller and Geraldine (Tincy) Miller. He graduated from SMU’s Cox School of Business in 1982 and went on to work for the family’s real estate business until his death in an automobile accident in 1997.
